Scholarship Fund Overview

PAASP is working to build a scholarship fund for students who are planning to work in the occupations on which PAASP focuses (see list of occupations). If you or your organization is interested in donating to the scholarship fund, please contact PAASP. Checks must be made out to: “Washington Greene County JTA”

Donors/Funders:

  • Businesses & professional organizations contribute funding to the scholarship. PAASP may contribute some funding, via grant-based funding (if approved).

Management of Scholarship & Process:

  • PAASP will manage the scholarship process and documentation.

Selection Committee:

  • Selection committee members will have some representation from the funding organizations and some from other non-funder organizations, plus PAASP representative.

Targeted Recipients of Scholarship:

  • Category 1 – full-time college students pursuing an Assoc. degree or higher
    • Sophomore level & above
  • Category 2 – professionals who are taking some classes to advance their skills
  • If there is enough funding, we will plan to offer scholarship funds to both full-time students and professionals.

Application Process:

  • Applicant obtains forms from PAASP (eventually available online)
  • April 1 – Applications are due to PAASP
  • April – Selection Committee reviews applications, selects recipient(s) and determines funding amount(s)
  • By May 15 – Applicants are notified of decisions

Where Can Scholarships be Used:

  • For programs of study related to occupations that PAASP focuses on (related to security, preparedness, fraud, safety, etc.) at colleges, universities and technical schools within the U.S.

Requirements for Scholarship Recipients:

  • Must notify PAASP if changing out of major related to security or emergency services
  • Provide input/statements/feedback to selection committee for advertising purposes and for improving the program/process

Other Opportunities with Scholarship Recipients:

  • Summer internship program/opportunities with PAASP companies/organizations
  • School-year project with PAASP companies/organizations
